About the Event

The Advisor Symposium is a four-hour continuing education event specifically designed for practicing attorneys, CPAs and financial service professionals. This year’s event features attorneys Martin Shenkman and Patricia Annino, CPA Robert Keebler and Corporate Vice President Greg Holmgren.

The Symposium is intended to offer continuing education credit to attendees. State approvals and hours vary.

CE Approvals

The Advisor Symposium has been filed for the following types of continuing education credit in all 50 states: ICE, CPE, CPE for IRS enrolled agents, CLE, CFP, and PACE. Ethics credit has also been requested for this year’s program. Approvals vary by state and will be updated on this site on a weekly basis.

Martin M. Shenkman, CPA, MBA, PFS, AEP® (Distinguished), JD

Founder, Shenkman Law

Martin Shenkman is an attorney in private practice in New York City and Fort Lee, New Jersey. He focuses on the legal needs of high net worth individuals, professionals, owners of closely held businesses, and real estate owners and developers. Martin earned his bachelor of science degree from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a concentration in accounting and economics, his MBA from the University of Michigan with a concentration in tax and finance, and his law degree from Fordham University School of Law. He is the author of more than 1,000 articles and 43 books, and also founded ChronicIllnessPlanning.org, which educates professional advisors on planning for clients with chronic illness and disability.

Patricia M. Annino, JD, LL.M.

Partner, Rimon P.C.

Patricia M. Annino is a nationally recognized authority on estate planning and taxation, with more than 30 years of experience serving the estate planning needs of families, individuals, and owners of closely held and family owned businesses. She has been voted by her peers as one of the Best Lawyers in America (trust and estates), a Super Lawyer, a top 50 Massachusetts Female Lawyer, Boston Estate Planning Council’s Estate Planner of the Year, and the initial recipient of EuroMoney/Legal Media’s “Best in Wealth Management- USA” award. Patricia has written five books and also writes a monthly column for AICPA’s CPA Insider, a newsletter sent to more than 320,000 CPAs. She is a graduate of Smith College, Suffolk University School of Law, and Boston University School of Law. Patricia also is a Fellow of the American College of Trust and Estates Council, and a member of the Board of Directors of Family Firm Institute, the Board of Directors of Business Families Foundation, and the Advisory Board of the Indiana University Women’s Philanthropy Institute.

Robert S. Keebler, CPA/PFS, MST, AEP® (Distinguished)

Robert Keebler is a partner with Keebler & Associates, LLP, and is a recipient of the prestigious Accredited Estate Planners (Distinguished) award from the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils. He has been named by CPA Magazine as one of the Top 100 Most Influential Practitioners in the United States. His practice includes family wealth transfer and preservation planning, charitable giving, retirement distribution planning, and estate administration. Bob frequently represents clients before the National Office of the Internal Revenue Service in the private letter ruling process and in estate, gift and income tax examinations and appeals, and he has received more than 250 favorable private letter rulings including several key rulings of “first impression.” He is the author of more than 100 articles and columns and the editor, author or co-author of many books and treatises on wealth transfer and taxation. Bob is a frequent speaker at national estate planning and tax seminars, and conducts presentations for New York Life’s Advisor Webinar series.

Greg Holmgren, CLU®, ChFC®

Corporate Vice President, New York Life Insurance Company

Greg Holmgren is the Advanced Agent Development Officer for New York Life. He leads a team that works with top agents, their clients, and their clients’ advisors to enable those clients to achieve their specific financial goals and solve related obstacles. He speaks to groups around the country about financial strategies and key planning issues that impact their lives. With more than 33 years of insurance industry experience, 30 of which have been in the employ of New York Life, he brings a wealth of applicable knowledge to every situation. Greg holds a bachelor of arts degree from Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois.

Heather L. Davis, JD, CLU®, ChFC®, CAP®, AEP®

Corporate Vice President, New York Life Insurance Company

Heather Davis began her career in the life insurance and financial services industry in 1997. In her current role as the Head of Marketing for Advanced Markets and Centers of Influence, she leads the Center of Influence initiative for New York Life, a nationwide program focused on developing business relationships with attorneys, accountants, trust officers and outside financial services professionals. She serves as the program director and host of the Advisor Webinar Series, the Feldman Forum and the Advisor Symposium, continuing education programs that provide financial professionals with resources to help them better serve their clients. Heather graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Nebraska where she received both her Bachelor of Arts and her Juris Doctor degrees. She holds Series 6 and 63 licenses with NYLIFE Securities LLC, and is a member of both the Nebraska (inactive) and Texas state bar associations. She also serves as the Past President of The American College Alumni Association Board of Advisors, and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the GAMA Foundation, where she chairs the video media committee.
